The Queen approved an extension to 1st January 1955 for clearance in the Mediterranean

the rarest DCM with only 14 awards being made

it also became available to Army and RAF officers serving aboard naval vessels

with the usual qualifying period of 12 years

VRSM & RFA Full Size 2nd Award Bar NATO The Queen approved an extension2nd award bar to be added to the ribbon of the Volunteer Reserve Service Medal (VRSM) and Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service Medal (RFA). In the case of the VRSM bars were issued for additional 5 years service after the medal was awarded. The RFA bars were issued from each subsequent 10 years service.
