If your caravan or trailer is wider than your car, you must fit additional towing mirrors. To comply with the law, you must be able to see 20 metres behind you and four metres either side of the towed vehicle. The law also specifies a maximum distance that the towing mirrors must not extend beyond. Cars manufactured after 28th January 2007 must not use towing mirrors
