The T Bar ties the chassis together lengthwise and is the primary defence against chassis twist. On a low CG racing buggy that stiffness is central to how the car behaves a flexing chassis gives handling that changes with load and corner direction, which is the kind of fault that never shows up on the bench and drives you mad at the track.
